Nice piece from Bob Thompson of CustomerThink the other day entitled ‘SugarCRM rides the open source wave’. Interesting from the perspective that it flags Sugar as a force to watch. I suspect they are disturbing the sleep of a good few CRM software CEO’s right now. The article also highlights John Robert’s (Sugar CRM’s co-founder and CEO) claim that ‘the market today has really been dominated by great sales and marketing and very little innovation on the engineering side’. I’d largely agree with him, though I’d also throw the virtually non-existent progress on improving implementation success into the mix as well.
